How does the power get from the power station to your house?
To safely power your house using a power station, you must install the CONECT PS panel. It prevents back-feeding and, at the same time, it protects all appliances.
CONECT PS PANEL INSIDE VIEW
Using a portable power station to power a house seems great. It is a useful tool when you have to power equipment far from an electric plug. The connection of a portable power station to your house is possible by taking into consideration the following aspects:
- SAFETY ISSUES
- POWER REQUIREMENTS
- STORED ENERGY
SAFETY sounds like the most important issue. You can not simply connect the power station output to your house's electrical system. First, there is a high risk of backfeeding. The only way to overcome this problem is by installing an appropriate ATS (automatic transfer switch) panel. The panel must be wired by a qualified electrician, who knows all the details about it.
POWER REQUIREMENTS are related to the power you think necessary when a power outage strikes. Your power station must be able to satisfy the requirements. Not as simple as it sounds. In some cases, when you need to power a pump for example. The power required when the pump starts is 2 times or 3 times the nominal power. For instance, you can not connect a 1500W pump to a 2000W power station. You may need at least a 3000W power station.
STORED ENERGY is related to the time your power station can maintain the nominal voltage across your load (or appliances if you will). If your power station stores 2048Wh of energy, it can supply a 2048W load for only one hour.
